Chef Chris Shertzer brings a lifelong passion for food and culinary flare to Tierra Sur in his role as Executive Chef. It was during his time in Santa Barbara as both student and teacher that he began to explore all the facets of what would define his professional passions. He learned his trade of high end cuisine as a chef, studying under international masters at both the world renowned Santa Barbara Polo Club and ultra luxe Santa Barbara Four Seasons: The Biltmore. While his skillset grew and allowed him to create a wide variety of exquisite fare, he was naturally drawn to Italian cuisine, studying all manner of one of the world's most acclaimed culinary styles. Immersing himself in the details and techniques, Chef Chris has developed a formidable talent, fluent in la lingua della cucina. He takes great pride in being able to work with the region's local growers and purveyors, sourcing some of the freshest ingredients in the area and providing a true farm-to-table experience in many of his dishes. Relying on an his vast knowledge and countless culinary tools, Chef Chris looks to elevate Tierra Sur and kosher food to a place few have dared imagine.
