Join Savta Orly as she prepares sambousek, a cheese-filled pastry, with Shani. Savta Orly fondly remembers sneaking into her own kitchen as a child to grab one - now she passes on this beloved family recipe, great for the Nine Days or anytime!
Get the recipe:
Dough
3 cups all-purpose flour, such as Glicks
1 tablespoon Gefen Yeast, mixed with 1/2 cup of water and 1/2 teaspoon of sugar
1 teaspoon salt (I like to use Himalayan pink salt)
3/4 cup water, gradually added to the flour (if need be)
1 spoonful of oil, such as Tonnelli Avocado Oil

You are a special lady. Thank you 🙏
I was asked several times if the Bulgur wheat needs to be cooked for this recipe. While some do, my recipe with its ancient roots, does not require prior cooking of the Bulgur wheat. The process of making Bulgur before sold to the consumer, is using cracked wheat that has been parboiled, lightly boiled, to save on cooking time. Therefore, no need to precook for Tabule salad.
So nice to see Savta Orly herself responding to the comments! Would really appreciate it if all the other chefs featured on https://www.kosher.com would respond personally to the comments & questions on their recipes & shows like Savta Orly did here. Hatzlocha Rabbah in keeping up the great work here!
