Growing up, spicy food was always something we avoided. We enjoyed a little kick in some dishes but for the most part we kept our cooking pretty standard – onion powder, garlic powder, and paprika (which for the record, works splendidly on everything!) but as the years went on and I started experimenting myself in the kitchen, I discovered that there are hundreds of spices I’d never seen, heard of, or used in my life – for example, cayenne pepper!

Spicy food does not suit everyone, but for those who love it, it’s a real ride of flavors! Good news is, you can always adjust the seasonings from mild to flaming hot and it’ll be just as delicious.

Just a friendly reminder – although it’s still the Nine Days and you can eat meat on Shabbat, you should try to adjust your quantities so you aren’t stuck with leftovers, and in case you are – remember to freeze them!

Shabbat Shalom,

Nicole
