Prepare the Kugel

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. Combine noodles, egg yolks, vanilla sugar, sugar and oil.

  3. Pour mixture into greased 9- x 13-inch baking pan and bake for 45 minutes.

For the Topping

  1. Beat egg whites until stiff, gradually adding sugar and walnuts.

  2. Remove baking pan from oven. Spread a thin layer of apricot jam over the top.

  3. Pour nut mixture over kugel. Return to oven and bake for an additional 30 minutes.
