3 pounds string beans
8 cloves garlic, chopped or 8 cubes Gefen Frozen Garlic
1 packet Good Seasons Italian Dressing Mix
1 (6 pound) flanken roast
1 tablespoon Montreal steak seasoning
1 1/2 cups garlic sauce (such as Mikee Garlic Stir Fry and Rib Sauce or Dai-Day)
Place string beans in large roaster. Top with garlic and Italian Dressing Mix. Place roast on top of string beans. Sprinkle steak seasoning on top. Pour garlic sauce on top. Cover and let marinate 24 hours.
Preheat oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.
Remove roast from refrigerator and uncover. The garlic sauce will have sunken to the bottom. Pour out sauce into a separate bowl, then pour back over top of roast.
Place 1/4 cup water in the bottom of the pan. Cover and cook for 4 hours. Check roast every hour once it has been in the oven to 2 hours. Roast is ready if juices run clear when skewer is inserted.

Dressing Can I make that dressing packet on my own? Can you provide substitutions
I bet if I asked Good Seasons for their recipe packet ingredients they might not be so forthcoming.
That said, you can make an amazing recipe packet mix yourself. I always store my own mixes in tightly sealed containers.
Try this for Italian seasoning: Mix equal parts of garlic salt, onion powder, sugar, oregano, pepper, thyme, basil, parsley, celery salt and regular salt. I would love to hear how that worked out.
Gluten free? Is the dressing packet gluten free because your recipe is tagged as gluten free?
Sarah, you are asking a great question. A quick peruse online didn’t inform me of Its gluten free status. That said, it’s always a good idea to double check products when purchase for a food aversion. The actual recipe has no known gluten so it’s labeled as such. But please check the label.
I believe the Balsamic flavored dressing packet may be GF but not the Italian flavored one.
Can I prepare this in advance and freeze?
Yes, you can definitley prepare the meat in advance. I would not freeze already cooked string beans, they can become watery.
Hi!!!!
We are a huge fan of this recipe … question : Do you think I could do this in advance? If I want this for Monday lunch can I cook it on Sunday?? Please reply !!
Of course! Just refrigerate and warm when you want to eat it.
my family does not enjoy string beans – can I use onions or what other vegetable would work
You can use any vegetable you like. It cooks for long enough that any vegetable would work!
