This is a wonderfully light appetizer that is easy, yet sophisticated. The caramelized onions, sautéed mushrooms, and hints of garlic fuse to create a perfect blend of flavors that will make your family and guests reach for more.
10 ounces fresh or canned mushrooms, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons Bartenura Olive Oil
1 onion, thinly sliced in half moons
2 cloves garlic, crushed or 2 cubes Gefen Frozen Garlic
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon Tuscanini Sea Salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
5-6 stalks fresh chives, chopped
1 baguette, sliced
In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat, sauté onion until translucent.
Reduce the heat to medium-low, add the garlic, mushrooms, salt, and pepper. Cook for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring frequently. Add chives and stir.
Lightly toast baguette until golden brown.
To serve, top each slice of bread with mushroom mixture.
