Sticky Sesame Chicken

This sweet, tangy and sticky sesame chicken, will bring the Chinese takeout to your home.

Ingredients

Sticky Sesame Chicken

  • 1/4 cup flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika powder

  • 1 pound chicken cutlets, cut into pieces

  • 2 tablespoons oil

  • 1/3 cup Gefen Honey

  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar

  • 3 tablespoons Glicks Soy Sauce

  • 2 crushed garlic, such as 2 cubes Gefen Frozen Garlic

  • 1/8 teaspoon red pepper flakes (or more if you prefer)

  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame seeds

  • 2 scallions (sliced) for garnish

Directions

1.

Heat the oil in a pan.

Combine flour, paprika powder and onion powder in a large Ziplock bag and shake. Add chicken pieces.

3.

Shake bag to coat everything well. Carefully place coated chicken pieces in skillet to start to brown.

4.

In a bowl, mix together honey, rice vinegar, crushed garlic, red pepper flakes, and soy sauce.

5.

After about four to five minutes, flip the cutlets and brown the other side.

6.

Once chicken has a nice crisp on both sides, add sauce, mix and reduce heat to low.

7.

Cook for about 10 minutes.

8.

Sprinkle with sesame seeds and scallions before serving.

Because we like our food on the savoury side, I started by cutting the amount of honey in half. We loved it and it’s now a part of our permanent collection. Also, I believe you meant to include the ground black pepper in the flour mixture. Good work, Miriam.
