Chanukah is in full swing and we'll soon be going into Shabbat, so we're going to need an amazing Shabbat- and Chanukah-worthy menu!

We've put together a menu that we think hits all the right notes!

We're talking onion confit, glazed donut challah, meat latkes, jelly donuts, and a marinated chop chop salad to cut through all those delicious fried, rich, and sweet flavors.

We hope this menu makes for the perfect finish to a wonderful Chanukah season for all of you!

1. Glazed Donut Challah by Sara and Yossi Goldstein

Shabbat Chanukah is special family time, the perfect occasion to dress up your seudahs. This glazed sprinkled donut-inspired challah doesn’t take much effort to pull off, but it will dazzle the kids (and the kids-at-heart)!

2. Tuscan Onion Confit by Sina Mizrahi

Between the aroma that permeates the kitchen and the satisfaction of smearing a heapful over a hefty slice of bread, I love a good confit. These mini onions melt into themselves and are delicious heaped with pine nuts. Use fresh oregano if you can. To quickly peel the onions, blanch them in boiling water– the peel slides right off.

3. Family-Favorite Chicken Nuggets with Sweet-and-Sour Dipping Sauce by Bassi Gruen

I’m blessed with amazing sisters-in-law who are also excellent cooks on both sides of the family. These delicious chicken nuggets are from my husband’s sister Leah. They’re flavorful and crispy, and a welcome break from cold cuts at the Shabbos morning seudah. I usually double this because there’s so much noshing on Friday afternoon as they’re fried…   You can just serve the nuggets with sweet chili sauce, but if you have the time, this homemade dipping sauce is worth the minimal effort.

4. Soft ’n Scrumptious Meat Latkes by Faigy Grossman

These latkes are out of this world! I couldn’t figure out what I was tasting more of — the meat or the potato — but both beef and potato latke flavor are very much deliciously there. This will certainly be a recipe I will make again in our house. I also love the fact that it’s not just more unhealthy fried potatoes — you have the meat in there, adding more nutrients than the typical latke has.

5. Undone Egg Roll Fettuccine by Chanie Nayman

I’m always looking for crowd-pleasing yet easy recipes for parties. This fits the bill. You can make the meat mixture a few days in advance and keep it in the fridge.

6. Lemony Marinated Chop-Chop Salad by Faigy Grossman

7. One Step Jelly Filled Donuts: How To Make Donuts the Easy Way from the Nitra Cookbook

How to make donuts the easy way! Here is an incredibly easy method to fill a donut, minus the mess! Be sure to just slightly mark the first circle. If you cut down all the way, the sides of the donuts won’t have a good seal and will separate when frying. Feel free to use other fillings besides for apricot jam, such as chocolate, caramel, or dulce de leche. Top with either a frosting, or sprinkle on the classic: confectioner’s sugar. Happy Hanukkah!

8. Chanukah Cookies by Joy Devor

Finally, an amazing sugar cookie recipe that uses oil, not margarine! Refrigerating that dough will help firm up the dough, thus making it easier to work with. This is really the perfect recipe to make with little ones, and sprinkling with colored sugar is the perfect way to add some extra “bling”. To make colored sugar, just mix a tiny bit of gel food coloring with some regular sugar until you get the desired color.
