5 Genius Foods to Cook on the Betty Crocker When Traveling
Are you traveling to a place with limited kosher options this summer? Then you must get yourself the Betty Crocker Pizza Maker.
The Betty Crocker Pizza Maker is great for so much more than just pizza. It makes the perfect travel companion that’s capable of cooking things from stir-fry vegetables to rice! You can also use it to heat up frozen foods. It’s a little large, but not too heavy and very easy to use. Plug it in and wait until the green light goes on. The trays are non-stick, but I recommend using parchment paper when possible for an even easier clean up. To wash down the inside, let it cool down and simply scrub with a soft sponge and a little bit of soap, then wash out with a damp cloth.
Below are a variety of foods that I tried on the Betty Crocker with cooking times and directions to make your cooking experience a breeze. Everything tasted delicious! You can try almost anything on this machine. A few other ideas include nachos, cookies, and potato kugel. Use these ideas as a guide, and have fun experimenting!
1. BBQ Chicken:
Marinate chicken cutlets in a ziplock bag in BBQ sauce. Once the Betty Crocker is preheated, place a round piece of parchment paper on the bottom tray and place the chicken on top. Cook three minutes with the lid closed. Open and baste chicken with more BBQ sauce and cook for an additional two minutes.
Add 1 cup white basmati rice, 1 and 1/2 cups water, 1/2 teaspoon salt to the Betty. Cook with lid closed for eight minutes. Unplug and keep closed to let the rice steam for five minutes.
Spray a little nonstick spray onto the Betty for easiest cleanup. Pour beaten eggs onto the hot tray. Move eggs around constantly with a spatula for three minutes.
4. Rainbow Veggies:
Use vegetables of your choice. I used sliced tri-color peppers, sliced red onion and broccoli florets. Marinate vegetables in a ziplock bag with olive oil, salt and pepper, and the spice blend of your choice. Cook with lid closed. Check after 12-14 minutes for doneness.
You can't buy the Betty Crocker Pizza Maker without trying out how pizza cooks on it! (Plus it's always a family favorite so be sure to make it for the family on vaca!)
Transfer parchment paper with pizza to the Betty Crocker. Close the lid and cook for 10-14 minutes.
